Do you have a family member who thinks you don't like them?

I had a post-op appointment recently, and I invited my mother to go along so she could hear what the Doctor had to say. Afterwards, I took her to lunch and later dropped her off at home. The next day when she talked to my older sister, she said that she was surprised I took her to lunch because she didn't think I liked her. WTH?

I have complained here about my mother before and how she always dismisses me. But I have given her money to get her car fixed, she has spent the night at my house when her heat wasn't working, and she has called me when she needs help with something, yet she thinks I don't like her? That makes absolutely no sense and as much as I want to confront her about it, there's really no point.

She might feel you’re just doing those things out of a sense of obligation because she’s your mother.
@OlderSometimesWiser I get that, but it's not out of obligation. I have invited her to places she said she wanted to go and yet she declines. But if I invite my older sister to come along, she's all in.
@DreamyCrush The objective facts and how she feels may be two very different things. She doesn’t appear to be feeling “I like you” vibes. Your older sister being around might make her feel more comfortable and welcome.
@OlderSometimesWiser Understood. Thanks for your insight.😌
