Being honest… breastfeeding has been hard.

I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I didn’t expect to feel this overwhelmed, emotional, and at times even defeated. It’s one of those things that’s supposed to feel “natural,” but for me — it’s been a learning process full of trial, error, and a whole lot of grace.

Some days I feel like I’m getting the hang of it. Other days, I cry and wonder if I’m doing enough. But I’m showing up for my baby the best I can — and that’s what matters most. 🤍

To any other mamas struggling too: you’re not alone, you’re doing amazing, and however you choose to feed your baby — that choice is valid and full of love. 💪🏾💕

Exactly you are there for your baby, and trying each day, as this is a new venture and part of your life, just like for him! There's no such thing as perfect anyway, so just try the best you can in the moment, and hey, if sometimes you have to do bottle formula, he is still getting love and fuel , so it's a win for breastfeeding and it's a win for formula too. :)

As a man (and a father) I thank you for even trying to breast-feed. I'm saddened though that you are not getting joy from it i.e, bonding, pheromones, arousal, wonder. I used to watch my wife breast-feeding our two (spaced by 2 years) babies; I appreciated that she would give of herself for our children. There were times when if the child woke up I would fetch them and she would breastfeed in bed without having to get up. Later on, I bought her an upholstered, soft swivel-rocking chair for her to sit in for those nightime feedings.
Question for you: Are you 'supplementing' your baby's feeding with formula? I mention this because he/she may just 'too 'full' to take your milk? Or... If you are using cows milk, perhaps your child is lactose intolerant and gets indigestion pains from that consumption?

I can assure you that this quite normal and that you're not the only one. Just continue the good fight!
The best advice my mother gave me when I was struggling with that was… put her on the bottle. Things became a lot easier after that.

@InterdimensionalSideEye thinking about it but I really don’t want to :( will if I need to. Fed is best.
@TiaRose Totally understandable. Just don’t feel trapped by some people’s opinions in society of…breastfeeding has benefits to only good mothers breastfeed.
Be very careful. Formula supplementing is frowned upon but our guy was early and he just couldn't master what was required to get anything like what he needed. Make sure baby K. is thriving and do what it takes to assure that.
