I would tell my child that IKEA brings the kits that make the babies and that it takes Mommies and Daddies 9 months to put the babbie together because the instructions are in Swedish and no one knows what a Crampfenshtoojer is untill you go online an watch the tutorial videos on youtube

Mommies tummy. We told our kids when they first asked.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@justanothername exactly. It's not like they are asking how babies are made

I was raised on a farm ,,every day the animals were making babies, no difference than humans
SamInAZ · 41-45, M
@jackrabbit10 nobody really had to tell you, you saw it from day one.
jackrabbit10 · M
@SamInAZ yell the chickens did it, the old hound dogs, pigs, it was a daily orgy.

The legendary "bees and the birds" story works better to explain the little curiosity.
They would start asking more questions.. and we can explain bit by bit.

If we are before school age I would deflect with a question “Why do you ask?”

@Pfuzylogic Indeed. There’s the old joke about the kid who asked his parents "where did I come from ?"
The parents, panicking, give him chapter and verse, the talk.
The kid, bewildered, replies, "Wow. My friend told me he came from Chicago."

Tell the truth on their level of understanding
I don't know. I don't have any
bijouxbroussard · F
It depends on their age and personality. Some kids can understand more easily than others.

Dad & Mom love on each other & 9 months later your sister came out. My son asked me that when his sister was born. No need to be any more descriptive than that & you aren't lying or complicating it for their little minds.
