No Offense To Those Who Are Still Reproducing

Do you ever wonder why people are still bringing babies in a world like this? You ever seen the state of the world lately? If I had a say in the matter I'd have chosen not to be born especially not in these times we're living in. Why would I want to bring a human into this world to see what I've seen and experience what I've experienced only to wish to have never been born 😅.

[c=7700B2]Again no offence to those who are making babies[/c] but I've lost the desire to have a kid. I'm glad I don't had a baby. Not that I tried 😄.
palmtree · 22-25, F
by that logic we never should have reproduced at all. times have always been tough in their own ways and had their good and bad moments. i don’t think it’s necessarily worse now than sometimes before in the history.
palmtree · 22-25, F
@palmtree BUT i want to add to the admin of the post: if you don’t want a kid, that’s perfectly fine, there is nothing wrong with it. i don’t see myself being a mother or a family oriented person either. i don’t have a problem with that. like i said, i only have a problem with people claiming that world was a good place before and suddenly it isn’t, which is far from being the truth.
texasborn89 · 31-35, M
@palmtree i don't want to agrue with you. we can agree to disagree. we all are entitled to our own opinions
SW-User
@texasborn89 Yes, we can discuss issues without getting bent out of shape.
JustNik · 51-55, F
I get that. I know I worry about my girls, and if they ever have children, I’ll worry about them, too. But I don’t think there has ever been a good time to bring children into the world. It is the ultimate expression of hope.
SW-User
@JustNik That says it all.
I see what you mean but tbh that argument could have been made at any point in history. Life is difficult and often unpleasant. That's just the nature of things.
SW-User
@BacarySagnasleftankle True, you never know what life will throw at you.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
I'm 42 and I feel the same way. I wish my mother had not carried me to term. And I would NEVER bring a baby into this world, it's too far gone.
Never ever finish a sentence that starts with “no offense, but…”
iamelijah · 26-30, M
I agree. We have too much people on this earth and in workforce, we are overloaded. There are many unemployement happen and breeding is not the best solution and yet it adding more competition.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@iamelijah We need help, workers, here in the US. 😂
I’m done having kids. I have 4. I understand your concerns though. It’s a crazy world out there.

I've started ignoring a lot of internet and television things that aren't needed in a happy home. lol

@SW-User LOL 😃
Eternity · 26-30, M
I agree with this sentiment.

I don't like how most people tend to view reproduction as some selflessly moral act.

Bringing a life into the world is as arbitrary an action as it gets; roping someone with no agency into something as complex and unpredictable as "life" is morally dubious at best

Life is not a gift in and of itself. There are plenty of people out there who would tell you that they would have been better off never being born.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Eternity That's because they are ungrateful and unappreciative. Just because you have had some misfortunes in life that doesn't mean you should not have been born.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Zonuss Shut up pedophile.
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@GeistInTheMachine that's not nice.
I dont worry about myself. I do wonder what sort of life my children and grand kids will have if any
mysoulsays · 36-40, M
@nevergiveup exactly and the quality of life experiences of the human species is deteriorating with each generation
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@nevergiveup I don't want to put anybody through this honestly. It doesn't sit well with me.
texasborn89 · 31-35, M
true this world is so evil these days unfortunately
chrisCA · M
@texasborn89 Evil has always been a part of this world.
texasborn89 · 31-35, M
@palmtree yes,there has always been evil in this world but not like it is today. this isn't the same world as when we were kids unfortunately. at least when i was a kid.
palmtree · 22-25, F
@texasborn89 20th century was filled with terrible historical events that lasted for a long time?

i’m tired of this narrative that comes from people who are older. i even perceive it to be egotistical and done with superiority complex, saying such things as “ in our times it was different, people were better, we weren’t doing this and that etc..” and most of the times it isn’t even said for the sake of other people, it’s only said so they can feel better about themselves. also essentially it strips down any of the responisibility they might have for today and many of them even blame younger generations. this is everyone’s world. i am not pointing fingers at you specifically, but as someone who is younger i honestly am just tired of listening to older people b!tching about this.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
In this day and age having a child is an option, rather than a purpose in life. My daughter has 3 and I one them all. My son and his wife have chosen deliberately not to have kids. She for career reasons and a lack of maternal drive. Him because of the awesome responsibility of raising kids right today.. I can nt say either side is right or wrong. but I am glad they both have the option...😷
SW-User
@whowasthatmaskedman Sometimes it's good not to get too involved. Yes, let them deside their options. Trust me, been there.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@SW-User Yes.. Even now when my wife starts complaining about the kids and how they choose to live I just look her in the eye and say. "I was happy with the dog".. But both are successes. One balances family and a job and has three great well maintained children. the other have good careers each and several owned investment properties and share portfolios and a clean. tidy apartment in town.. Its all good.😷
SW-User
@whowasthatmaskedman LOL, that's great and I would say most moms are the same. Me on the other hand, have 2, boy, girl. My daughter is a success but I don't care to speak of my son. Yes one of something. 😬
It’s a personal choice. But I hope everyone have some enough means and strong sense of responsibility before trying to produce one.
SW-User
@BloviatingBuffoon Don't know.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
Keep banging away and kill the world faster, folks. we need MOAR people! 10 billion by 2030!
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine A life, no I have one. An enema maybe.😂
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@SW-User Not you buddy. The gentleman here acting a quarter his age because free speech and opinions besides his own are offensive to snowflakes like chris-chan.
SW-User
@GeistInTheMachine oh, I thought you were kidding around. My bad. 🙃
SW-User
Kurt Cobain said that in an interview in the early 90's things are never as bad as they seem
SW-User
@SW-User That's right and it could always be worse. 👍
SW-User
times have never been this good though? we have everything now lol
SW-User
@SW-User Cute, LOL 😋
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@SW-User There's no more people that show love these days. So many things are lacking in this world that were there when I was a child. I miss the old days.
SW-User
What is bad for us now, is because we have had better but when you born, you grow into the sittuation you are dealt with. That might seem good to them because they know no other way but down the line when things start getting bad for them, they will be saying the same thing.
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@SW-User At times I don't feel like my mom appreciates my existence. She makes a habit of talking down at me. That is one of the reasons I wish to have never been born. Cause if you brought me into this world to make me feel inferior then you could have at least not bothered having me. I always tell her she brought me here and that if she's had enough I'm giving her permission to dig a pit and throw me in it. She never likes that 😄
SW-User
@Thandeka No, don't give her permission to do that. Just always tell her you love her and maybe she'll see how much it hurt you and eventaully she may come around. 🥰
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@SW-User I don't always say that to her. I'm usually nice even when she's mean but when she starts talking like I chose to be here I feel the need to remind her.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
Maybe your baby would have been the one to make things better.

Thandeka · 31-35, F
@JohnOinger Do you think you'll ever get bored at some point?
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@Thandeka great question I havent so far
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@JohnOinger It's a good thing that you're not constantly breaking someone's heart because you were too selfish to stay single like some people.

“In the best of times, our days are numbered anyway. So it would be a crime against nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were designed in the first place: the opportunity to do good work, to enjoy friends, to fall in love, to hit a ball, and to bounce a baby.”

― Alistair Cooke ...btw,I'm NOT "reproducing"

Newsflash -. They're not.

@Roundandroundwego If you think socialism and dictatorship is good for you, find, but don't drag everyone else to hell. Once you choose you lose and they is no turning back. And by the way we have to have both at a balance to make this country operate smoothly and it's not just one party it's both parties. I can care less about either party. I just care about a great country our FED. Gov. is destroying.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
Ego, ego, ego.

Muh kidz!

Like my dear old POS dad says, I am a reflection of him.

If I am, no wonder I am so shit.

@GeistInTheMachine I used to be like my mom tearing people down with words but not anymore. Thank God I'm a better person now. It's entirely up to you who you become.
SW-User
I understand that. I'm in the same camp. But I still dream of the instafamily now and then. Swooping in to be a better dad than I thought I could be to a kid who really needs one. I think I would have liked being a dad.
ABCDEF7 · M
The world is not meant to end after this generation. The world needs good citizens. If someone thinks, they can contribute to it, why stop them?
hunkalove · 61-69, M
As bad as life is on this pitiful broken planet right now, can you imagine how bad it will be in 50 years? Or even 20?
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@hunkalove My point exactly.
I’m pretty sure it’s called love and hope.
Whodunnit · M
I totally agree with you.
chrisCA · M
Many parents may feel that way, but it is basic human nature to start a family.
It depends on what part of the World you live in, and cultural norms also.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
No offense to you whatsoever but some would say that this is an immature way of thinking.
The state of the world has always been in sin, chaos, turmoil. Wars, massacres, uncertainty. Humanity wants to survive and many people individually want to have a family, to teach a new generation, produce a legacy or just love a child. This is a big part of being a human; family.

Its perfectly ok to not want children. Its more than ok, for some people its the absolute best decision and can allow them to be able to lead a fufilling productive life that wouldn't be possible otherwise but its not hard to see why many others want to have children either.
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@REMsleep Call me immature but I can't ignore something in from of me. I don't know about you but where I come from I never witnessed such level of evil I see now. People are not hiding anymore they've normalized evil. Why would I bring an innocent human into that kind of chaos.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
@Thandeka I get it. But when you meet someone you care about and understand that you can create the narrative for your own family and this can actually create hope for future generations sometimes your mind might change.
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@REMsleep I can't afford having a baby. The life set for me is centred around one thing. A guy that can't have kids would be the best option for me to marry 😅.
Of course, in many places in the world, (including some parts of the the U.S.) there are people who want to take women’s & girl’s reproductive choices away. If they have their way, anyone who becomes pregnant, whether it’s the result of consensual sex or not, whether they’re prepared to care for a child or not, will be forced to give birth. And the people who are mandating these new laws are making no arrangements for care or extra resources for these unplanned children.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
Everybody is different.
Some people hate their life.
Some people love it.
Please don't judge. 🙂
caesar7 · 61-69, M
......the world is overpopulated as it is. What I despise are women who just want to have babies for the sake of it. I know single mothers who just wanted to experience it and after, neglected their offspring afterward. That burns me. I respect your stance on this matter. I agree, it is a crazy world.
chrisCA · M
@caesar7 Do you have kids?
caesar7 · 61-69, M
@chrisCA Yes ..one. We made the decision to stick to one. That's enough for us and the world for us to have an imprint on the planet.
Thandeka · 31-35, F
@caesar7 Let's not blame the women. Perhaps there should be a contraceptive for guys. I know guys who go around getting women pregnant and leaving them with the burden of raising the kids on their own.
SW-User
Maybe...just maybe.... it's not just about making babies, but also about making decent and respectable children and adults. It takes time, effort and leading by example. At no time in anyone's life has it ever been perfect and all wonderful. Being a parent takes more than just making a baby.
If you've lost the desire to have a kid, it's probably a good thing you don't have one.
When times are hard is when you're children can learn the most about standing up for what's right and helping others.
