Re the US shortage of baby formula...

I keep wondering who hid all the lactating breasts???

And yes, I know in some cases the babies need special formula because of health problems, but is that REALLY the cause of the panic??

Like most 'panics' there are multiple reasons.

One, many women do not work in the fields or at home. It's not always feasible to leave a board meeting to nurse. Or an assembly line. Or waitressing.

By far, most employers do not provide "nurseries" where you can step out to feed.

Yes, there are breast pumps, etc, to stockpile breast milk, but they are usually not free and some people don't have money. Discussing whether they should have procreated when they have no money is a moot point if they already have a baby.

If the working world was more cooperative with nursing mothers, there might not be such alarm.

The world hasn't actually changed much in some ways. Once upon a time, "wet nurses" who were already lactating could be hired to feed a baby. Today it's formula.

And there are few hotter flash points than not being able to feed your baby.

@Mamapolo2016 MUCH more serious and answer than my semi-joking question deserved, but very thorough.
