I Wish Babies Stayed Babies Forever

[youtube=https://youtube.com/watch?v=CJDmUgrTVyU]

This morning, after sending my fifteen-year-old off for holiday class, I was at the lift landing when a father pushed his bike out out of the lift. A little baby boy was perched in the back. He must be slightly less than two years old. He was not a very chubby boy but looked really cute with a little red cotton cap on his head. His eyes did not leave me as his father prepared to mount the bike. As I entered the lift, he was still staring. I smiled. Then, the strangest thing happened. He lifted his little arm and waved me goodbye. Through the lift window, I waved back vigorously. This little gesture really made my day.

Back home, I think back to the time my boy was that age. He had soft hair and skinny arms just like that little baby. Those years before he started school were the best ones but I was working full time and had little time to spend with him. But I remember precious moments so vividly - the way he would suck the little ice cubes and bite into them, how his little fingers would open up to grasp my hair or face, how he would refuse to go take his bath and once in the bath, refuse to come out, much to the exasperation of his granny.

I feel a little sad that those years pass so quickly. And now, other than photos and objects to remind me of them, they seem to have been from another realm.

@Vivaci you have grown-up kids as well? They're so different now from when they were small.
@novembermoon yeah, I do. My only son is in senior high....lol...and I'm glad he's grown up, but miss those days when he was a kid....馃槆

I was v lucky to have spent a lot of time bringing him up though. Aaah...sweet childhood memories of my little baby. 馃槏 Truly golden.
