Wow... there's lots of interesting symbolism here. I believe I see an axe handle in the tool bag on the hook. I like it!
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul haha the axe came later, and so did my symbolism. The symbolism seeps through my artwork nowadays. This was just me trying my damned hardest while being a poor artist to make myself recognized. It didnt work, but I tried my hardest and thats what counts...

@MartinTheFirst That is what counts. And, it didn't work the way you wanted, but in a way it did work and now you are on your way to being an engineer... and driver.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul However, I painted it, and my unconscious definitely floods the image

@MarkPaul Thanks for being supportive, and I won't shoot you down. I feel like "engineer" doesn't represent who I am. Labels are difficult... But a driver definitely 🤣

@MartinTheFirst Yeah, I'm not a fan of labels either and besides they don't last a lifetime... thankfully. And, they often can be toxic and unnecessarily limiting. I hate being labelled like... "oh, he's the quiet one." So, yeah, I didn't mean it as roadblock, more as your current course of study. Although, "driver" tends to only have upside...

@MarkPaul I think artist is all encompassing for me 🤗 And engineer is definitely better than the quiet one haha! I'm sure we can give you a better temporary label as well

@MartinTheFirst What I see the most in the painting is the contrasting facial expressions, like 2 sides of a personality in 2 forms of the same person.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@MarkPaul I thought a lot about the expressions, it symbolises the feminine and masculine. The woman has everything she wants, she's happy and free of worries. The man has everything he wants, and he is happy and worrying about losing what he has...

@MartinTheFirst Wow... I was almost spot on. The focus on the ring with her expression did convince me she was satisfied with everything. The guy's expression gave me the feeling of quiet desperation... he too has what he wants that he sees reflected in her happiness, but frightened or weary of where it will lead. He almost seems defeated, yet you keep getting drawn back to the ring and the smile.

@MarkPaul that's a beautiful review, you're almost making me tear up 🥺
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@MartinTheFirst Oh you!
But seriously... you really capture the essence of human-based happiness. There is certainly that sense of satisfaction that feels so good contrasted with a sense of despair bordering, but not touching on a taste of depression.
