Needed but wanted?
I am needed. But am I wanted?
I wake up every morning carrying responsibilities on my shoulders;
work, finances, the children, the family, the house, the future.
I work multiple jobs. I take care of things that need to be done. I do chores, solve problems, make jokes, try to keep everyone’s spirits up, and keep everything moving forward.
And most of the time, I just get on with it.
But underneath all of that, there is a question that bothers me for long time.
If I stopped being the person who provides, fixes, organises, pays, works and keeps everything together, what would be left?
Sometimes I don't know whether I am loved for who I am, or just valued mainly for what I produce.
I know what I offer my family.
What I don't always know is whether they want me.
Not the income.
Not the security.
Not the person who solves the problems and make them laugh.
Me.
As a man.
As a husband.
As a dad.
I don't just want to feel useful.
I want to feel wanted.
