Sad tale. My heartfelt condolences to you and your sister and niece.
I repeatedly tell sponsees that yes there are some very successful partnerships in the fellowship. But..... I see far far more unfortunate wreckage as a result of this kind of thing.

Oh my. I’m glad you said that. Not only to take her out of herself a bit, but that reminder may also comfort in a sad kind of way if she begins to really struggle. It will remind her she’s not alone. I am sorry you all share loss like this, bijoux. 🫂💕💕

AA is often very much of a cult and rules often tend to get bent by the people running it, so I'm not surprised they got together. If anything I found, decades ago when I tried AA, the group did everything it could to isolate people from their families unless a family member was also an AA member.
But sorry to hear of his death. :(

I’m so sorry for this loss my friend. And for the awakening of that loss which sleeps so very lightly. 🫂

I'm sorry for your loss.

Deaths are almost always sad. Either we mourn the people who are gone, or we mourn the person they could have been if they cared enough to try.
Your sister’s unawareness of anybody else who suffered is almost breathtaking. But that was how my own late sister would have spoken, too.

@bijouxbroussard My sister wouldn’t done that. She was the fragile one who needed more comfort than anybody else.

@Mamapolo2016 Usually, so is this one. But occasionally she surprises us.

@bijouxbroussard We are too soon old and too late wise! There is always hope.

No good words live inside of me for this.
But I do feel you and understand the types of pain many of you and yours may be experiencing.
I'm so very sorry for everyone involved. Especially the child.
