No, I think most normal people would stay.
Adrift · 61-69, F
Wow! This younger generation needs to remember that they too will be there someday.

I wouldn't either if I had to push the person home in a wheel barrow.
Rabscuttle · 41-45
When my mother began to get seriously sick, I'd just finished college, so I stayed home to care for her. It had a predictably negative effect on my job prospects (they don't like long gaps, often so much that they won't even bother asking for an explanation), but I know what matters in life.
Ragnarock1276 · 46-50, M
@Rabscuttle I agree with you. I was a shift manager at a pizza shop I was offered general manager of a different store and even district manager in another state but I wasn't going to let my parents go through their final years alone

No way! It breaks my heart to see people sick, scared, and alone in the hospital. I would NEVER do that to my Mom. When she's in the hospital, I'm with her as much as I'm allowed.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
Oh Lord. I'd have never just dropped off my mom at the hospital and just left. But, as an RN in a hospital, I saw that happen more times than you can imagine. Very sad and it broke my heart each time.

I did when I could .. living so far away has its complications

Well...I suppose we can't judge HOW close your sister already is to being fired...so it's not up to us to say that she SHOULD have missed work and stayed with your Mom. BUT on the surface, it seems a little cold. Perhaps she and your Mom have issues?
Ragnarock1276 · 46-50, M
@4meAndyou My sister does not work she is disabled it's her daughter that claimed she has to work in the morning. She runs her own business refabbing abandoned houses and she is the only employee. She can literally do it anytime she wants she just has it in her head that certain hours are for work and certain hours are for leisure

@Ragnarock1276 Well, in that case...I hate to say it, but she's an awful person.
Ragnarock1276 · 46-50, M
@4meAndyou she's been called out multiple times for the way she treats other people. According to her it's everybody else on the planet that is the problem
