Which is worse in a relationship to be misunderstood or unappreciated ?

I feel being unappreciated is worse. One can be deeply loved but accidentally misunderstood, and usually that is easily remedied with communication.
But when one is unappreciated, it means they are being taken for granted, and that hurts.
