I relate to this so deeply. I also spent time caring for my dad, and looking back, I realize it was one of the most meaningful roles of my life. We don’t get them for as long as we wish, but the love we give them stays with us forever.
Stay blessed.

Bless him.

I lost my dad in 2024 to dementia, his decline was long and gradual and he didn't suffer but watching his decline was heartbreaking for us.
Thankfully he didn't reach the stage where he couldn't remember us and he still enjoyed a laugh right up to the end.
It's only hit me recently that we will never have our regular phone calls again, never visit him, never reminisce and laugh with him about my younger days but the memories keep me strong, he was a great dad and my memories of him will be cherished for as long as I live.

I feel your pain 🤗

@RodneyTrotter1 Sorry for your loss.

I ached watching my dad's decline

I hated what time did to his body - and his mind was still sharp

I was relieved for us both when he passed

It took a while - but I now remember more of the good than the least year

RIP - I hope they are both sitting at the same card table exchanging dad jokes
God is taking good care of him just as good as you did .... God bless you 🙏
