I have family members who wouldnt be friends or even acquaintances if they were not related to me. Total opposites who I have nothing in common with and don't especially enjoy being around - but I love them.

Oh, I love my mom and stepdad with all that I am, but they each have things they do that drive me buggy. That's the difference, I think: Love them for who they are and dislike what they do and say sometimes. ❤+🫂, Mom and Dad.

@Trav2024 @Trav2024 There is not always a familial obligation to love a step parent. A step parent did not bring you into the world and if they didn't help raise you, there is not expectation of real love. I cant stand my step father and I merely tolerate him for my mother's sake. He has never been good enough for her or our family - which takes care of him more than his own family (which doesn't really care about him)
