My story. What happened.

My parents separated when I was 16 My mom then dragged me along with my siblings into a foreign country. You can say kidnapping more like it. She was chasing dih from an illegal Mexican who got deported. Well, we ended up stranded there for about 3-4 years in Mexico City. When I came back to the u.s I was behind everyone my age. Robbed of my education and I never learned how to drive. Now at 30-something, idk how to drive or get a car. I've driven a vehicle before, but I end up getting nervous. I want to get myself a car and start driving. My mom judges me yet she never taught me any life skills. I'm not embarrassed to say this about my life or my story. If anything I was robbed of a normal teenage upbringing. I just want to be normal.

Well...WOW. You definitely have been through the wringer.

It's interesting you'd mention driving. In my own driver's education course (here in Mich; I took it later than others, as driving up and down the main street had never seemed to be amazing to me), there was a girl who had never even been on a riding lawn mower, and it showed in how scared she was about driving a vehicle.

I had experience on some riding lawn mowers, and it seemed that it helped me.

So I suggest you find someone who would let you cut their lawn with their riding lawnmower, and tell them why. Just be honest.

@SomeMichGuy I've driven before. The lawnmower thing sounds dangerous idk. I just need to lose the anxiety when driving.
@disturbedchicken Dangerous? A riding mower with a steering wheel gets you more used to what is going on with looking where you are going, etc., in a much less stressful environment.

But what sort of anxiety do you have about driving a car? Are you afraid you'll crash?

@SomeMichGuy Interesting, I mean it has razor sharp blades, idk. I get anxiety. tend to speed and I'm afraid I could wreck or run someone over. But I know I can do it.

@SomeMichGuy When you mentioned lawnmower. This is what I pictured. I'm like how do I get on this? Lol
@disturbedchicken The blades would be dangerous if you ran over yourself; riding lawnmowers now have switches in the seats so that getting off of it stops the engine.

Going fast is easy to do, but your instinct is right: going too fast usually makes things MORE dangerous.

Remember, the "Speed LIMIT" is only for driving in perfect conditions: good light, great weather, perfect road conditions, in a well-maintained vehicle with NO distractions.
So anytime

• it gets darker (dusk-night-dawn), or
• the weather is NOT perfect, or
• the road is NOT perfect, or
• the vehicle might have issues, or
• there are distractions...

SLOW DOWN

LOL
@disturbedchicken Riding lawnmowers are like this

@SomeMichGuy I don't have any access to those kinds of riding lawnmowers. But I see what you mean.
@disturbedchicken The ones you walk behind (though they usually are self-propelled) are more dangerous, though they tend to have a special "smaller handle" which has to be held against the handle as its own safety mechanism.

But they are definitely more dangerous, you are again right.

You have good safety instincts. Trust them.
