Our family is small. The last of its generations have long died out, save for my immediate family.

If I outlive them, I face the world alone. Loose acquaintences will fade, like beacons on a distant shore.
Nothing approximates that emptiness. Nor fills it, as your dear friend knows all too well.

As my aging parents slip into the twilight of their lives; the true value of human connection
has for the first time, become startlingly apparent.

As our respective eras draw to a close; may God be with your colleague.
His is a heart searching for a home. May he find it soon.
