My grandfather's name was Herb

My grandparents used to have an empty bottle on their kitchen counter that had the words "Herb Juice" on it, as a sort of joke.

I remember my grandmother telling me:

Herb, the plant, the h is silent, so it is erb.
Herb, the grandfather, the h is present, so it is herb.

Watching Martha Stewart constantly calling the plant "herb" drives me insane.
