"But you loved your mother unconditionally"

I love my mother still as unconditionally as humanly possible but there were still conditions to my presence, and there was a greater good. She had no one and was weaker than me when I allowed her back to my life. She was oppressed, vulnerable even if not towards me. I had to step in and help despite the hurt. I had a sense of obligation because she is my mother whether I like her as a person or not. Whether she harmed me or not.

In the past when she was capable of standing over my best interest and hurt me, I walked away and left her. The greater good was leaving her to take care of my siblings and myself.

I don't suffer unconditionally for anyone. There are rules and causes and consequences.

Unconditional love is such a bizarre notion that certain people seem to expect. Like what, you want my time, effort, energy, and devotion just because you exist? No effing way. There is no love without respect and respect is a two-way street. Otherwise you're talking about subservience
Is love suffering?
