Who do you blame if kids grew up mess up?

I would say my best friend and her brother are pretty mess up. She told me that they are who they are because they grew up with bad parenting. They had slept with each other.

Parents lack of love or the oppostie, being smothered by them, friends influence, bad luck, unbalanced thinking, not being of good character, easily talked into doing the wrong things, no self esteem, etc. It could be a number of reasons that cause kids to be messed up.
