Why would my dad react this way?

I was in the kitchen getting some coffee and he came in too, I smiled at him, and he immediately snapped at me "what are you smiling for?"

I didn't really how to respond so I kind of just chuckled awkwardly and said "I don't know, just good to see you I guess" and then he told me that was weird. I hurried the heck out of there after that.

I'm autistic so I don't process emotions or facial expressions well, kind of just left me confused. Is it weird to smile at people like that?

Seems he might be autistic too. It would make sense. Lots of traits are family traits and it might be how you got it.

@froggtongue I kind of suspect that. Ironically my parents don't think stuff like that exists 😑
@HorrorandMusic maybe you could stand your ground. Let your father and anybody else know that when they cross a line with that's not justly due, you're going to call them out on it and not take it. Or maybe that's not you and you're willing to let it slip. Either way try not to let it affect your own self.

@froggtongue I appreciate that but literally everything affects me and I let everything slip.
