when I was a kid there were a few large hickory trees near our house. I would watch crows pick up the hickory nuts, place them on the road to our house and wait for cars to run crush them. They would wait for quite a few to be broken then flock to the road and eat the pieces.
If you are familiar with hickory nuts you know that they are very hard and impossible for a crow to break one with its beak.

They are all over here at the farm. One got tangled up in some wire mesh, and my son got it out and let it go. Now it stacks rocks, old earrings, and even an old Christmas ornament ... anything it finds, on the edge of the porch at the house. Then it walks around and steals stuff too, but it seems to be happy.

@TexChik If you find a dead crow throw it on the roof of the house of your enemy and they will hold a funeral for the dead crow all day long.😂

It's actually MUCH worse than that...😬
"Recent scientific discoveries have revealed an even more astonishing trait: crows can remember people who have threatened or harmed them for up to 25 years. Even more remarkable, these clever birds teach their offspring to recognize these human “enemies.” In this article, we’ll delve into the science, stories, and generational grudges that make crows truly extraordinary."

Yes. I know that they also remember humans who have been kind to them.

17 years - if they remain alive for that much longer - is impressive.Even if it were only to be for 5 years, that too is an interesting aspect of the lives of birds.

Better be respectful to crows, then.

Corvids are regarded as very intelligent animals.
But a 17 year-old grudge might suggest otherwise....

Memory:
Crows have exceptional memories, able to remember faces, locations of food, and even the routes of garbage trucks
