when I was a kid there were a few large hickory trees near our house. I would watch crows pick up the hickory nuts, place them on the road to our house and wait for cars to run crush them. They would wait for quite a few to be broken then flock to the road and eat the pieces.
If you are familiar with hickory nuts you know that they are very hard and impossible for a crow to break one with its beak.
