If someone's parents are Italian citizens, are they eligible for Italian citizenship by descent?

Top | New | Old
I have no idea...

But I know that some people during Covid were claiming that if you can factually trace your roots back to a historically verified citizen, a lot of different countries would offer you the ability to get a passport as a citizen of your ancestry's country as well. I don't know if Italy was among them or not.

My daughter discovered she was eligible, by virtue of having just one Italian-born grandmother. (My mother ). So I guess I 'm eligible too
Despite being born in the US, my daughter is Canadian by virtue of me being a Canadian citizen.

I think it depends on being born in the country? At least that's how it works in Denmark. But it's probably easy to get in this situation, even if you were born in a different country.

Idk seems reasonable but might have to look up their policy .. at any rate they are Italian regardless of citizenship

All I know is that they've changed the rules this year, I'd double check

@Elessar

Yes, this time I'm not tagging you in anything offensive.

I don't see why not.
This is the answer my search engine gave me:
Citizenship based on descent is bizarre
