Is it weird to also view another woman as a mother figure while my actual mother is still alive?

Not that I think of her as taking my mom's place, it's just that she was around when I was growing up and would help me when my mom wasn't able to at the time. She was one of the neighbors, but I also think of her as a mother figure. She and her husband never had kids (don't think they could), I gave her a card for Mother's Day.

@JimFarris16 nothing wrong with that you sometimes get that where you come across a person who has this effect where they act like an adopted parent with good advice and help

No, plenty of matriarchs in my life that I love and honor.

If she was a mother to you and cared for you in a motherly fashion then it’s not weird but only natural
