It’s easy is to turn away from the world and politics. Until you have a child, and then suddenly you’re anxious because it’s their world now.

My son is 8 months old and I’m thinking will his health care stay free as it was for me, will he be educated properly, will he be able to find work, buy a house, have money left over to have adventures with his friends.

I turned my back on the world when my friends and I came under sustained attack because of our religious beliefs, but now I need to use my votes and my actions to lay a foundation for him to build his own world.

Bringing up children expands your horizons and forces you to look beyond your immediate daily requirements. It hopefully will make you a more empathetic and understanding person.

I try not to look too far into the future or dwell too much on what is past. So long as we think generously and treat others humanely we will serve our children well.
