Hey people my age, do you remember when your parents had phone bills that were extremely expensive?

I remember my dad being pissed once that we had an $800 phone bill which in today’s money would be around $2000.

Yes. It was once state to state long distance charges. Then new zone numbers were added and it was possible to be long distance to call a neighbor. The phone company was today's cable Mafia of yesterday.
