I have a family member who used to make me feel very self conscious growing up. They would eye me up and down with a judging face. They'd occasionally be kind too, but the feeling that they were judging me prevailed. Then because even back then in my early 20s, when I didn't call on my own, they said out loud in front of my grandmother, 'When have you ever called me?' in a degrading way. I felt humiliated.
Fast forward to now, they wanted to "catch up" on the phone recently. I texted back a pleasant message of wishing them well, but didn't take them up on talking on the phone. Then my mother tells me they asked HER, 'why didn't Coral call me?' (after we really have not spoken in a few years). Laying guilt AGAIN. I don't need it . And I simply don't want much contact. Do you have a family member that is similar?
