Prince William or Prince Harry ?

Which brother do Americans prefer - Prince William or Prince Harry? Interactive graphic reveals what the USA really thinks of the Royal Family, and the results may surprise you.

Although they signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, to sever all ties to Britain - including the monarchy - celebrity-obsessed Americans cannot get enough of the Royal Family.

Through fairytale weddings, messy divorces and devastating deaths, US royal watchers have been invested in it all.

Around 23million Americans tuned in to watch the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana on July 29, 1981. And 16 years later, on September 6, 1997, 33.2million of them solemnly sat in front of their television sets to watch Diana's funeral.

Explaining why many Americans are obsessive royal fans, entertainment journalist Eric Carlson compared reading 'supercharged celebrity news' to watching reality TV.

A new YouGov poll has now asked more than 1,000 Americans for their opinions on members of the Royal Family, both living and dead.

To me the Royal family is like the Kardashian's or Jersey shores with a mix of Maury Povich show and I would not waste my time watching one second of any of that trash either.

But hey this is just me, and you asked and this American said!

@WillaKissing A truly accurate description ;)

@Nimbus Princess Diana was the one most befitting to be called royal in my opinion.

@Nimbus The Royals have better security, and more money and better homes is all.

@WillaKissing Correct!

@cherokeepatti That I agree with, but how her life ended was terrible.

@cherokeepatti The late Queen seemed to possess a lot of class too.

@WillaKissing It was heartbreaking. I remembered the announcement on TV and it felt the same way as when JFK was assassinated. (and I was in first grade then).

@WillaKissing she was a stickler on rules

@cherokeepatti I was born in May 1965, so I missed JFK, but just like JFK's death and Diana's there is a ton of conspiracy surrounding them both.
