Helping each other
My unique situation doesn’t allow for me to hire someone professional to keep up on the cleaning, and my health no longer allows for me to keep up on it. I’m out of breath from the simplest distances, and my legs are so much weaker. (Going to ask for a walker soon. Maybe that will help me move around easier)
One of my sisters is constantly looking for side jobs to supplement her income, and something she was doing today fell through just when she needs to pay her car insurance. I told her I could pay her $100/week to take over the chores I needed done if she could do them the way I said how (which is very limiting). She agreed to every Monday. Perfect because that’s both trash day and the day before my hospice nurse visits.
So my sister was over today, we got some coffee and had a Bible study. Very nice way to start the day. And then, she got to work. I told her the cleaner and different sponges/scrapers I want used, showed her where everything was and what to clean around, what order to clean everything. The reality is that this house is still filthy overall because it’s a hoarder house. But what she was able to do left the atmosphere so much more breathable and less oppressive.
I wish I had before and after pics to show. I’m so blessed. She did an amazing job, and the money was well-earned. She said she felt guilty for taking it, but I said it’s awesome we’re able to help each other. She needs some extra money, and I desperately need this house kept up on as best as possible every week.
So we’ll have a routine each Monday: coffee and Bible study, then she does the cleaning (doesn’t take her that long), and we go get lunch. It’s nice.
(Lol She’s my employee. I was her employee once when I edited her book. Now we’ve each worked for one another.)
