As a child, do you forgive your parents for what they did and did not do? As a parent, do you forgive your child for what they did and did not do?

What story is it about? How do you really forgive?

How does your forgiveness work?

I was beaten as a child. Yes, I forgave my father on his deathbed. Forgiveness is for the one mistreated, not the perpetrator.
I’m tired of complaining, fighting and loosing things which once held a high value in my life.Slowly and slowly I am learning to detach myself and see from outside what is attachment ?What is forgiveness?Do we forgive because we truly believe in giving second chances or do we forgive because we want to keep ourselves happy ?
I’m doing it all ,forgiving ,forgetting ,detaching all ..just to keep myself happy .

Not for anyone but for myself.
and I think this is how it works.Love only yourself .

As a child I can only thank them.

In general, understanding that forgiving is for you to help you move ahead. Forgetting and focusing on more important things help to forgive and move ahead. If it is of criminal nature and comes under boundaries of law, it's better to leave it for law to take it's own course.

The bible requires one to forgive if she or he ever wants forgiveness.

Forgiveness may, or may not, mean that someone who commits the most atrocious criminal acts shouldn't still be punished.

Someone who tortures a child may be forgiven by the child or the parents but should still be hogtied nude and drug behind a muscle truck across streets paved in broken glass for an hour or two. Other then that they should go easy on them.
I’m trying. So far, it’s layer by layer. Can I forgive for this instance or that instance? Sometimes, I have to admit that I’m still extremely angry about some things. But I’m actively working on forgiving.
As a child, yes. As a teenager, no, as an adult I forgive everything.

I don’t have kids so I can’t answer to the second part.

Yes, they didn't know any better. I'm not going to share my story, I just say it's about words I wish I didn't hear.

It's not easy but in the long run it's best to forgive (but never forget)
