Why aren't Americans having more babies ?

US fertility rate crashes to historic low as America heads for 'population crisis' by 2050.
The fertility rate in the US has plunged to another new low, with fewer women than at any point in history having children.
The rate was 54.5 births per 1,000 women of childbearing age (15 to 44 years old) last year, a three percent fall compared to 56 in 2022.
The number of babies born in the US also declined year-over-year, with just under 3.6million live births in 2023.
At the same time, immigration is soaring, with a record 2.6million immigrants coming to the US legally in 2022, and up to 14million people when accounting for illegal migration.
Experts say the US is headed for a so-called 'underpopulation crisis' by 2050, when too few people are born to support its current economic system.

The reason for that is primarily cultural. Small farms and small farmers who had families of 12 children or more are becoming quite rare. Having children to work the farm? Not happening. There has, in fact, been an exodus from rural areas to large urban areas where there are more jobs, and where housing is more expensive, and there are fewer rooms in the family apartment.

The more money government spends, and the more expensive things become, the greater likelihood that both partners in any marriage will need to have full time jobs...and then there is no one to watch the children but strangers at day care. Married people have to think very seriously about how many children they can afford, and whether or not they will have time to raise them properly.

Our cultural withdrawal from religion is also a factor. Churches used to teach that family was everything...and if you had a lot of children you were blessed. Today, young people of child bearing years are no longer interested in what churches have to say...or at best regard it with cynicism.

This means that divorce has become an acceptable cultural option. In the past, a divorced woman was a matter of scandal and whispers. Today, young people marry in haste knowing that they can escape quickly and easily.

No young woman in her right mind wants to get married, have children, and then find herself abandoned by a player who entered into the marriage thinking that if he wasn't happy he could walk out and get a divorce. Women, especially, hesitate to throw the dice in that way. Being a single Mom is no joke.

Culturally, abortion has become an acceptable option for young women who care nothing for religion or family. Abortions used to be rare. Statistics show that over 900,000 babies were aborted in just ONE year. I believe it was 2019. I could be wrong. But I did look up those stats.

People who have lazy, lush lifestyles have become increasingly self centered and selfish, and they are not willing to make the sacrifices that their great grandparents might have made to bring their own children into the world.

I said that the decrease in population was PRIMARILY cultural, but it is also linked to toxins in the environment. Pollution in the everglades, for example, has caused wildlife to become sterile.

More and more young people who WANT children have been drinking poisoned water and eating poisoned food, and not by choice. This makes them, eventually, infertile.

Until God, and morality re-enter our world, this pathetic corrupted degradation of a once proud ethos will continue.
