An honest question to which Id like an honest answer.....

Do you think it's more acceptable for a man to stay single and never have kids than it is for a woman?
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
Women are seen as selfish while men are seen as responsible, in my experience.
Umile · 41-45, F
Men have it easier in that regard.

Women on the other hand, are " supposed " to be married with kids.

It's not written for some people.
@Umile For some reason it's their mothers that want them to have kids, and other older women in their neighborhoods, workplaces, and especially churches.

I think if you asked this back in the 80s or 90s the answer would be yes. But in today's world, I don't think so.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@Sapio I'm going to sound like a complete hypocrite, since I myself have no intention of getting married or having kids, but I'm not sure that is an entirely good thing.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
No I don't think it should be based on gender or anything like that and honestly if that person either has a busy career or they are saving and searching for the right person rather than Mr or Mrs Right now then I congratulate them for doing so and being selective because honestly when you bring children into a relationship it needs to be a committed and stable environment not a Pop-Tart relationship or a broken home
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@KingofBones1 You are 100% right. Its better than to have kids then to bring them up in a broken home.

It’s 2024 I think it’s acceptable for anyone to live how they want
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@SophSmiles I agree. But in terms of social perception,do you think it's more acceptable for a man to be unmarried and childless for his entire life than a woman?
SophSmiles · 22-25, F
@DavidT8899 no, I don’t see any difference
TBH: It's a personal thing and not for others to judge.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@jackieash27 I agree, but society DOES tend to judge such things.
