A question for parents, what do you think the best age to give a child a phone ?

If you already have, did you regret giving them a phone too soon/late?

I think they should get a phone when the parents are sure the phone won’t distract them from the rest of their life (school, making friends/socializing, sports etc). I got my first phone (not a smartphone tho) at 12.

My son had his phone at 16, when he started learner driving.

However , need to watch their social media addictiveness from.time to time.

Ask them to open phone and show the apps.

I would say 16 or even 18. I allowed one at 14 for my daughter and it was too young.

@InstructHer 14 is a decent age
I think 16 and particular 18 is too late don’t u think
How’d they communicate with their friends
InstructHer · 61-69, M
@Moon3624 that is true but they cannot control social media at that age. It takes over their lives.

Tough one but I’d say at least middle school, too many kids these days are glued to their phones
