I am glad this doesn’t hurt you 🩷. My Mom tells me she hates me at times but sometimes she can’t even remember who I am because of the dementia.
You have thrived despite her treatment of you.

I am sorry you are in similar position. Very tricky and requires so much patience and compassion, especially if they were abusive as parents.
My mother has diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and keeps stopping her medications and having complications I often must interfere to fix.
The things she says used to hurt me a lot when she was saying them from a position of power. Now it often feels like a resentful kid who is upset they can't control the world. I let her say whatever until she tires and/or decides to talk about something else.

@Miram It is so tricky. Dementia has never tested my patience so much. My Mom has so many health issues.
I am sorry you’re going through this with her. It’s like having a child honestly especially when they act that way. You’re doing your best to help her. You’re a very strong woman and I am really glad for that.
I went through Breast cancer with my Mom last fall, I am glad she’s all clear with a mastectomy now. It’s hard to take care of someone who didn’t do a great job of being a Mother.
