Roxbury, in Boston. Dorchester, in Boston, and any place in Boston near Chinatown or the Theater District.

@4meAndyou I thought Boston was the perfect walking city
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir You may safely walk on Newbury Street, or near the Boston Public Library, (thought it is not so safe INSIDE the library), and on Boston Common, and in Boston Garden, and on Beacon Hill.

@JohnnyNoir Oh...and the Freedom Trail. Most of the tourist areas are kept pretty safe.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou my old job took me to Boston several times. Time constraints made sightseeing limited so the Freedom Trail and a few other areas were places I got to see. No doubt there are places you should avoid but I obviously don't know them
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir Just stay in the tourist areas, every time you go, and you will be fine.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou but, as a photographer, experience has shown me that a lot of the type of photos I'm looking for tend to be in the sketcher parts of town
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir Be super careful, in that case. You might be mugged and your camera stolen.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou I've learned over the years to be very careful and if an area seems too dangerous I won't stop. In my travels I knew little if anything about the bad areas in various cities. I learned to consult local photo groups about them and later on I did Google Street map tours to get a feel for the area and to scout specific places to shoot

@JohnnyNoir My first husband was a professional photographer. He didn't do it for the art, however. He went to events where major sports figures were going to appear, and also used it as a lure to try to make very young girls believe he thought they were model material.

@4meAndyou that's creepy. Other than live music, I rarely photograph people. My interests run to urban exploration or as some call it, ruin porn
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir Black and white, right?
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou some, but rust and decay usually work better in color. It's all about light, shadow, and texture for me. Whatever fits my mood works for me

@4meAndyou I love pictures like that! My stuff is usually pretty grungy
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir Well, if you can combine the grunge with drama, then it works for me. I need a little bit of drama in my art.
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou I went through a phase where I blended in rough textures over my photos for that. I'm still refining my technique as I go. I recently embraced a completely different style of editing

@JohnnyNoir Experimentation is a wonderful way to achieve amazing results, at times. I used to experiment with mod podge and magazine cutouts incorporated into paintings. The layered mod podge gave it an amazing depth.

@4meAndyou I hope you're still doing things like that. We all need some kind of creative outlet to channel our energy into. I'm just getting serious again about my photography again after several years of neglect.
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir No, I haven't been working on art. I have tendonitis in BOTH wrists, and I find that sometimes I can't even type very well. Today is a good day. Almost no pain!
JohnnyNoir · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou I'm so sorry for that.
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir It's okay. While I wait to heal, I can pay off my charge cards, and in 2 and 3/4 years, I will be able to afford art supplies! 🤣🤣🤣
