Today I realized that

I may look like my mom, but I’m more like my dad on the inside

He’s hard working, determined, humble, caring… my role model in life
And she’s like the complete opposite.

I don’t think my parents know that i know this, but I remember when I was around 12, i overheard them talk about divorce several times. I was heartbroken and hid my pain as best as I could 💔 I can’t remember what specifically changed or why they decided to stay together but even back then I knew that if they did separate, I wanted to live with him.

I don’t hate my mom… but she’s the example of who I don’t want to be for my future children…

I am really sorry and from what you have said about your Mom and the comments she makes to you that has made me angry to know she’s said such things to you. I don’t have daughters but I would never speak to my son’s that way. I am happy that you have your dad to lean on and you can look up too.

I really hope you know you’re beautiful inside and out regardless of what your Mom says to you.

My family is very dysfunctional but my Dad is less so and I think my Mother caused him so much stress.

@iamonfire696 thank you for understanding 🥺I don’t hate her, it’s just that she can be too much sometimes and the older I get the more I realize that she’s always been this way and I doubt she’ll change anytime soon 😔 And I don’t plan on repeating the cycle with my future kids

@Ashly I totally understand and you’re right, at this point she’s likely not going to change but you know exactly how not to treat your children because you don’t want them growing up doubting themselves and not liking their appearance. I know you don’t hate her but I think it’s even more important on how a Mom treats her daughter.

We know what we are up against but preparing your daughter with a good foundation and self confidence is a good thing.

You’re going to make a really good Mom when you choose to take that step 🩷.
