Oh lordy, you just brought me back in time to a family event where my sister and I wore matching crushed velvet overalls. Think I need to go lay down and put a cold compress on my head. 🤢

My mom sewed my younger sister's and my clothing. She had a good sense of style. Looking back on photos of us dressed up, I realize how much she loved us creating those dresses. I miss her all the time.

In my family, it was a matter of economics. One length of fabric for two sisters four years apart.

I never thought about it much.

I longed to dress the same as my eldest sister, but she's 10 years older so that was never possible. My other two sisters are identical twins and they had their own dress code so adults could tell them apart. I mainly wore their hand downs.

Thankfully, with our kids they had a favorite aunt who loved to sew and whose own daughter was 2 years older than our daughter. That plus a network of friends and family kept children's clothes rotating until they wore out.

The aunt made her own halloween costumes and one year it was Little Red Riding Hood. When our daughter got it a year later It looked so real that she was afraid to wear it.

I'm glad I didn't have to go though that.

My sisters are 16 months apart - but I can't remember them ever being dressed alike.

They look cute I feel if the kids [i]don't[/i] like it, then put them in different clothes .

Never had to dress like my brother. Lol
