Is it okay for your kids (offspring) To be lied to?

So i struggle with this thought often. Why idk; my family was always extremely open and honest with their offspring. Openess and acceptance encouraged honesty acceptance and discussion. So the obvious generic things like santa or jesus a little; but sex money responsibility and social issues always honesty. Sheltered from when young, but honest answers to questions.
Therefore i dont and never have understood ppls kids not being told reality and truth.
Sure times have changed. But in the interest of reducing violence id think revealing the real world to kids is more effective in alleviating judgement and unrealistic expectations. These are what lead to violence resentment and lashing out.
Therefore can someone please explain how lying to ones kids about reality, especially nowadays, is at all helpful in fostering a healthy successful child?

My quandry is if one lies about santa, religion, the tooth fairy, and/or racial supremacy generational superiority etc. Is it any suprise that when reality comes knocking (it always does; eventually) the oned lied to, usually a school age child, then get pissed and reject other aspects of reality/society. Often resorting to violence.
Not my offspring. . . F ers.
Be real. be honest. reduce violence.
