Just something I love

I see kind eyes. What a great photo. I am sure your mother will appreciate what you are doing.

My mother was born in a poor town in the mountains of Italy. She came to the U.S. at age 12, and of course her life changed in many ways.

When she was in her 80's, I was asking so many questions about her history that she decided to write it down, and that project grew into a book. She wanted to gather extra information about the region she was from, and she did so via -- the internet. She didn't just read web pages, but she formed friendships with people in Italy who responded to her queries. One of them got the finished book translated into Italian and published there!

So she became a bit of a celebrity in the little town she came from. This was before the days of Zoom, but an event was held in which townspeople gathered in the town hall, and my mother here in the US was able to address them through an audio link.

Growing up there as a little girl, she never would have imagined anything like that!

I wonder what the occasion was that led to the photo being taken ?
