How do I explain to my mom some people are caregivers or teachers or certain other "professions" by nature

My mom rolls her eyes at me for being a helpful person. She thinks I'm friends with my autistic friend because I think I need to help him. I told her that's not why, we just happen to be friends. I've always worked at front desk at hotels, but when I was job hunting once, I applied at a place for teens that are troubled and she hastily said "Oh, you just want to help people!" I said what's wrong with that!?? I went to college a few years ago planning on being an art teacher, but college didn't work out. I used to want to be a psychologist too. I think a lot of people have a "job" or a talent that comes naturally to them, but they may never actually get into that field to work and get paid. I explained all of this, but she's just an average non-worldly type of simple person that just doesn't get it. I told her I don't know why she looks doen upon me for having good qualities. We got into a fight about it one night. She has such a bad temper over nothing sometimes. She also seems to get more excited if I thought about taking a regular boring job like at a factory or some low paying job versus a good paying job that I actually would like to do. She never wishes the best for me.
