We used alcohol on my kids. Dried it up in a week ir so. Rubbing alcohol

@ronisme1 alcohol isn’t used for wounds anymore, it damages the surrounding tissues
@Flenflyys It can be, why do you think the pharmacy still sells it? I think hydrogen peroxide is preferred, sometimes what damages the surrounding tissue can be sadly more effective....

@thewindupbirdchronicles hydrogen peroxide is used as an antiseptic and is not an alcohol. Alcohol damages wounds, is not more effective, and should not be used. If the skin is closed it can be used.
@Flenflyys I know hydrogen peroxide is not alcohol, but typically used on similar wounds as rubbing alcohol. Why I said hydrogen peroxide is preferred but I think there is infections it's not effective with where rubbing alcohol will be while damaging surrounding tissue.

@thewindupbirdchronicles hey man I’m just sharing best practice. If you want to get technical, bleach would work best in killing infection.
@Flenflyys And bleach would kill too much... Sorry mentioning rubbing alcohol is still an accepted anti-spetic and perhaps sometimes too much, but can treat severe infection topically in ways hydrogen peroxide can't.....

@thewindupbirdchronicles right, as I said, over unbroken skin. Topical treatments are applied to unbroken skin. I don’t understand the fixation on peroxide though when she’s doing salt soaks.
@Flenflyys Topical treatments can be used on broken skin while paying attention to where you apply. A salt soak is better at remedy and lessening. An internal anti-biotic will treat much more.

@thewindupbirdchronicles oh you mean paying attention to not apply it to the broken skin? You’re just arguing for the sake of arguing, you’re incorrect and need to review wound care techniques before giving advice.
@Flenflyys The skin around broken skin is not broken. Those topical treatments can work there. And ps, rubbing alcohol is more effective than hydrogen peroxide in some situations. I wasn't giving advice, but thank you. (It's called isolating the wound)

@Flenflyys thanks for telling both of us.
