Allergies...really BAD allergies. 馃槶馃槶馃槶
NimbusM
@4meAndyou Awwww,
Winter allergies?
4meAndyouF
@Nimbus I am allergic to my cat...and I refuse to give him up, so it's partly my fault...but I think I have asthma, now, because of it. I am also allergic to dust, and my cleaning lady thinks dusting is not part of her job. 馃様馃様馃様
NimbusM
@4meAndyou Awwww, what a dilemma!
Are there no antihistamines you could try?
4meAndyouF
@Nimbus Yes. I have cetirizine, which is a 24 hour pill, and an albuterol inhaler, and a cortisone nasal spray, and an antihistamine nasal spray, and Montelukast which is supposed to make me LESS allergic to the things to which I am allergic.

I was getting allergy shots as well, but I missed so many appointments they wanted me to be re-tested, (those needle tests). So I went in for the test, but before they would test me, they insisted they had to test my lungs by having me blow into a tube, and I flunked that test. I started coughing and choking so badly that they refused to give me the needle tests.

Instead, the allergist insisted that I had to see a pulmonary specialist. My primary care physician scheduled me for a pulmonary function test, and I will not know the results until next May, which was the first available appointment with a pulmonary specialist. 馃様馃様馃様

@4meAndyou i was in same shape until recently. An ayurvedic practuoner prescribed Tulsi drops. Worked miracles. But i still carry my Allegra, inhaler, nasal spray. Just in case. 馃
4meAndyouF
@WandererTony How many mg were the Tulsi drops?
WandererTony56-60, M
@4meAndyou i m taking 5 dops of this in lukewarm water every morning 1st thing.
any other brand would do too i guess.
4meAndyouF
@WandererTony Thank you!
NimbusM
@4meAndyou Oh my, there are so many 'remedies' there surely they will interact with each other negatively?

Wow, that's a long time to wait :(
I thought our NHS was slow!
4meAndyouF
@Nimbus It's hard to get in to see some specialists. But 7 months is excessive, IMO!!!!

I have actually discontinued the nasal antihistamine spray, because I feel that it contributes to the incessant congestion.
NimbusM
@4meAndyou

It is.
I needed to see a NHS otolaryngologist and was told there is a 5 year waiting list!
Luckily my problem is not severe.

Good to hear.
Sometimes no meds IS the better option.
4meAndyouF
@Nimbus FIVE years?????? OM gosh...I hope I remember that the next time some self superiorized SW snot tells me how horrible our health care system is in the United States.

But...future vengeful plans aside, I am horribly sorry that you have to wait that long. 馃槦馃槦馃槦
NimbusM
@4meAndyou I try to keep positive and to think it could be worse :)
4meAndyouF
@Nimbus In much the same way, I've been tolerating tendonitis in both wrists...not because I can't get an appointment for physical therapy, but because they would charge $45 for each visit. And I have not been able to afford it. I just decided to wait.
NimbusM
@4meAndyou Awwww, that's bad :(
For all it's faults and there are many, we don't have that worry by having a NHS.

@4meAndyou You would really suffer if you were on a farm with them allergies
4meAndyouF
@WandererTony I ended up buying a small bottle of Ayurvedic Holy Basil, and I am trying your remedy.
4meAndyouF
@HumanEarth I was born in far western Nebraska, and spent every summer on my grandfather's farm. My mother grew up on that farm. It wasn't until they moved here, to the east coast, that my parents and brother and I developed allergies. Mainly, I am allergic to cats, and I have a cat as a pet. So this is my own fault.
HumanEarth56-60, F
Cats are cool. Specially if their working cats. Like ours used for protection of the young chicks
HumanEarth56-60, F
And hunting mice and rats
4meAndyouF
@HumanEarth I never wanted to adopt a cat. I was working for a patient with dementia, and her 6 year old rescue cat had to be re-homed when she moved to a nursing home, so I adopted Oscar after trying like hell to find him another home. When he passed away from cancer 2 years later, I was devastated, and went right out and adopted ANOTHER cat that looked a lot like him. Mr. Kitty Baby. My allergies have gradually grown worse and worse.

I have decided that when Mr. Kitty Baby passes away, I will NOT rush out and adopt another cat. I need to be able to breathe.

@4meAndyou I hear you I have a food allergy and it's in everything now days
HumanEarth56-60, F
Well talk later. Off to the feed mill. My son never told me we were out of chicken feed for 350 chickens
