Is this safe?
My mom was heating a biscuit and didn't know she left metal tongs in the microwave. The biscuit was heated for 20 seconds. We took the tongs out. Is this safe for my mom?

The molecular makeup of the food hasn't changed.
And if your microwave heats a cup of water without noticeable difficulty the appliance is quite likely okay as well.
