I don't see how a ring changes things. You either stay together or you don't. Only difference in breaking up is how long it takes to get it all over with.

@samueltyler2 Being married gives social recognition and reinforcement to having made a lifelong commitment, or as close to lifelong as workable.

@ServantOfTheGoddess maybe in a me areas, on some societies. There is greater acceptance of a family structure without formal marriage now than years ago . It looks sed to be a way for religions to express further control.

@samueltyler2 My marriage is not under religious control :D and yeah, I'm all for all kinds of family structures.
