I refuse to use a self-checkout. They don’t pay me to work there. And I’ve told several workers that when they suggested I use them…lines formed at the one regular checkout and 3 of the 4 self-checkouts were standing idle. I walked into one Walmart Neighborhood Market and did my shopping. Went to check out and it was all self-checkouts except a couple. I asked a worker where’s the cashiers. She said “Is this for a business purchase that is tax-free?” I told her no and she said she couldn’t check out my groceries and that I would have to do it myself. I told her they didn’t pay me to work there and someone else will have to put those items back in my cart. I was walking out and heard one young person say “Attitude”. And thought “Yes I have a spine to stand up for something that isn’t right.” My only regret was not loading the cart with ice creams and other meltables.
