@MarineBob Tipping stopped being about service and being a subsidy for service employers to continue paying unlivable wages. Otoh, being under the influence of marijuana (or any other drug) while on the job is no more acceptable than being intoxicated by alcohol. Alcohol is legal as well, so the problem isn't legalization of marijuana.

@dancingtongue Someone told me that alcohol is not legal everywhere in the U.S., that there are some counties where alcohol is still prohibited. You know anything about that?

@helenS Alcohol laws vary by state, and in some states by county or even local jurisdiction. But they affect the sale of alcohol, not the consumption. So, yes, there are some counties where the sale is prohibited; some states where you can only buy from State operated stores; and, the legal age for consumption may vary. Some to the point of absurdity. I remember in one state it used to be if you were sitting at a bar with a drink, and your table became ready or someone invited you to join them at their table, you could not carry your own drink. A paid employee had to bring your drink from the bar to the table.
