OMG, the lectures are the worst!

Like, if I do something wrong, my aunt goes into full lecture mode and it feels like it lasts FOREVER. She'll start with, "You know, you really need to be more responsible," and then go on and on and on. And I'm just standing there thinking, "Can this be over already?" And then, of course, there’s the punishment. It’s always something super annoying like, "No phone for the rest of the day," or "Your getting the paddle young lady ." I mean, I get that I messed up, but seriously? It’s like she thinks the more she punishes me, the less likely I am to mess up again. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t work that way! Ugh! #overit 😒😒😒

Making mistakes at your age is part of learning. In my opinion a parent or other authority figure should be a guide to point things out and help you fix a problem because that's how we learn. Save the punishment, whatever it is, for repetitive mistakes or bad choices, really unsafe choices/actions, or major disrespect. I do think over-scolding and punishing for every little thing is counter productive. You'll be out on your own soon. Hang in there.
