I visited my dad’s home town while I was there for the funeral.

It’s was my grampa’s house where dad and his 5 siblings grew up. Dad’s brother is the current owner.

This was the first church (but not the last, lol) that ever asked me not to come back for asking difficult questions (like seriously, every animal on earth was in walking distance of the boat?)

And this was the population sign from when I lived with grampa for a year nearly 45 years ago. The population has changed a bit since then…it’s now 164. (When I told my GF I had seen the population was 164, she said “really? Only 164,000 people live here?” “No” I said, “no thousands, just 164”) 😅

The question that aways got me used as a punching bag was, if god is so loving and all powerful, why did he drown all but eight, why didn't god just destroy the devil and change the hearts of the human beings?

@NativePortlander1970 Fantastic question! But there’s a bunch of questions I’ve always had, like what was the lesson we’re supposed to glean from Lot’s daughters getting him drunk and having sex with him, when the angel had spared them for their righteousness 🤔
@Zaphod42 Thank you, and yours is another good question. Then there's the other standard ponderance of, where did both Cain and Seth get their wives if Adam and Eve had no more children 🤔🤷‍♂️ Plus, there are only ten generations from Adam to Noah, so then where did the millions in global population come from at that time?

@NativePortlander1970 And who exactly was Cain afraid of in the land of Nod if they were the only people on earth at the time? 🤔

@NativePortlander1970 Also, how do most people miss that there’s two contradictory creation stories back to back in Genesis…one where the universe is created one step at a time over six days, and another where he does it all at once including Adam and Eve.

And if on the first day god created light, where did the light come from since he didn’t create the sun and stars until day three?

If God is all knowing, then how was Lucifer’s rebellion a surprise?

If God doesn’t make mistakes, then why was he so ready to wipe out all of humanity as a failed project?

And what sort of sadist tells a father to murder his own son, only to say “Just kidding!” right before the dagger falls?

What sort of just god takes away everything his most devout follower has, including his wife and kids, just to prove a point to his adversary? And sure, Job got twice that which he had before, but his first wife and kids were still dead…that didn’t change.
@Zaphod42 All excellent questions, and to lose everything all over a bet, then in the book of judges a girl willingly accepts being a burnt sacrifice because her father, Japtheth, vowed to burn sacrifice the next thing through that door to win a war. Then in Isaiah 45: 7, the "god of the universe" admitted to create sin to punish his followers for rebelling, the same "loving god" who apparently loves us, but sends us to hell because "we did it to ourselves". Sounds like victim blaming to me.
