Who else has a not great family?

I'm finding myself increasingly allowing myself to feel upset that not a single member of my immediate family [1 full and a 1/2 sibling, and my father] could be bothered to call and acknowledge my kid on their birthday.

Was it supposed to be on me to call them so they could talk to her?
She's a tween, it's not like she was too little to notice.

@Whyme no he quit his job and pretended he was working. He had to go. You can't do that to me and use me.

Would have been best for the child❤️ . Sorry they didn't call . 😢 I know i am bad at remembering things . Have to put on my calendar . Even for my own sons Birthday
It was not your responsibility. If they didn't take the initiative to call, they are indeed dysfunctional. Sadly my family is the same.

All I would say to that is
It's their loss ❤️
It's those who give attention and love are the only ones that matter

Seems the way its going i blame smart phones
Did they remember? You might have to remind them. I know all my immediate family's birthdays but tbh I still don't know any of their kids or spouses birthdays

@ChiefWalksWith40oz I'm sure they didn't remember, but it isn't like there's a whole mess of grandkids and nieces/nephews to keep track of... there's 3 and two of those are adults.

My half sibling I'm not so sad about, we arent close though I never forgot her kids birthdays.

My full blood sibling and father - I'm just a little disappointed they would forget. I don't think my mother would have ever let this happen, hard not to really feel her absence in times like this.
@Starcrossed yeah there's only a couple kids in my immediate family as well & I still forget 😅 I think it's simply because I didn't have that reminder like I did growing up. If I lived with them I'd remember way better but a lot of times life is "out of sight, out of mind".
I get your frustration but I hope you're not too mad. If anything, call them, tell them that they need to start remembering her birthday & ask if they wanna talk to him/her. Don't think if it as "damn I gotta make them say happy birthday". Think if it as you helping establish their memory for the future. If you don't say anything now, they might just continue forgetting because they don't realize how important it is
