Ever pretend a TV family is your own?

Whenever Id watch Who's the Boss? Or The Fresh Prince or Home Improvement, I'd marvel at how calm the parent was, how compassionate in times of worry or fear. It was so warming to see if a kid messed up in the show, they could still count on a heart to heart talk with their mom or dad, and a huge hug. I would sometimes subconsciously pretend it was me and I was receiving a loving gesture, unlike the mocking, threats, or ridicule I got. It STILL seems other worldly that you can feel love or joy from your family. I recently read an article too where Peter from The Brady Bunch said he gets adults to this day come up to him and say, "You guys were my siblings"🥺 That was so touching. Have you ever felt this?

I loved all those shows but never imagined they were my family. I guess i never knew that was an option. I just knew my family was my family and the dysfunction was my dysfunction. You get comfortable and just settle in. A little more support or less screaming would of been nice but never understood the dysfunction till i was knee deep in bad choices.
