Were you a "latchkey" kid? I was.

My parents both worked. Rather than give us little tykes a house key(bad idea), they hid a key outside...most of the time. When that happened, my younger brother and I would simply play outside until my folks returned.

For me, that fostered a feeling of content when I'm alone. That doesn't mean that I'm anti-social, but sometimes I do look forward to having no one around and I can get things done at my own pace.

Anyone else experience this growing up?

No, my mom was a stay at home mom, not until junior high school did I come home to a sometimes empty house.
I hated being alone for a long time.
Came from a huge family.
After my divorce and I was forced to be alone, I learned to look forward to being alone from time to time.
